Figure Sketch #20 - Mercy Beaucoup - Feathers and rhinestone spectacular!

The 20th session of Figure Sketch was held on Monday, November 5th at CR Framing in Brentwood.
Mercy Beaucoup was our model for the evening with musical accompaniment provided by Marcus Bettencourt on Saxophone and Kiah Cornelious on Bass.
Mercy Beaucoup is a burlesque artiste extraordinaire and it showed in her outfits and posing.
Pen & ink sketches of Mercy!

Feathers definitely call for a softer touch than ink so pastel was used for some color sketches.

Mercy Beaucoup was an outstanding model.
Many thanks to Marcus and Kiah for setting the mood!

Figure Sketch #19 - Sarah Christine and Christine - Dia de los Muertos style

The 19th session of Figure Sketch was held on Monday, October 22nd at CR Framing in Brentwood.
Local models, Sarah Christine and Christine, were made up by Shannon Bird of The Cartoon Room, for a Day of the Dead themed session. Sarah Christine and Christine had joined us once before in June and we were glad to have them back. They modeled both separate and together.

The make-up really lent it self well to color. Here's a 20 minute or so pose of Christine with white charcoal and pastel on black paper.

Here's a color sketch of Sarah Christine.
Christine captured me drawing Sarah Christine.
The final pose of the night was with both models.
Thanks again to Sarah Christine and Christine for modeling and Shannon Bird for make-up.
Great session all around!

Figure Sketch #18 - Miss Savvy - Broadway Baby!

The 18th session of Figure Sketch was held on Monday, October 8th at CR Framing in Brentwood.
Miss Savvy modeled for us in a sailor suit, a leopard dress and a tap dancing outfit complete with hat and cane. Here are some results of the evening.

On the first set I just used pen & ink.
When Savvy put on the leopard dress I brought out a sepia pencil.
Watercolor and ink captured the outfit and her hair nicely.
The last outfit I first I captured in ia variety of media, including acrylic on black gator board.

Here's Miss Savvy with Lynn Peterson, one of our regular attendees.
Miss Savvy was fun and fabulous!
